Over the past decade, it has been repeatedly demonstrated that most social media platforms succeed when they limit - rather than increase - the full range of communication possible. For example, Twitter recently resolved to preserve their 140 character limit, and Facebook has discovered that the new addition of “like” options more specific than the simple thumbs up, have had limited acceptance by users.

The current trend in social media is live broadcast and real time. It is why social media platforms are excited by what the immersive interactions, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) will bring. If each new platform ultimately succeeds through its selective limitation of our communication, how might this apply to the new “social VR”?
 
Anton in Wonderland, through narrative exploration, speculates a hybrid VR system that allows us to screen, pre-generate, and alter our form to convey emotions and meaning.

The user have to create eight emotion profile regulated by machine. While the system appears to pacify and narrow emotional range of interaction - it breeds new ways of experiencing identity and adds
a mediated space to distance one self from the emotional load of accidental, unwanted, unsolicited ambiguity or emotional exhaustion.
How can we step outside our daily performance of selves when we
have a rehearsed range of reactions to present?

Pre-Set Look

One is able to augment the physical appearance. The action helps one to raise self-esteem, and release the stress of how to present oneself.
By not needing to worry about how one is perceived, it would create higher focus in conversation. How can we experience a higher social interaction? What would it feel like to interact as another race, or in
non-human form?

To avoid the unexpected or simply reduce the wearer’s emotional load, one is able to control other’s conversational cues. Unable to receive any profile information, people without the devices are completely pixelated and behaviors+voice tones reduced. We could disregard the emotional load interacting with hospitality worker or temporarily turn off our friend’s crankiness.
